The flowers are blooming. The sun is shining. The season is turning. Enjoy the signs of spring in Prince George’s by getting outside with your friends and family, celebrating with your community, and learning how you can help heal the Earth.
Join these six activities to truly connect with the spirit of the season:
- Shepherd in the season with a free two-day festival in Bowie on April 20 and 21. The Savor Bowie 2024 Food Wine and Music Festival hosts two music stages, complimentary wine tastings, and local food and artisan vendors.
- Walk through the formal English gardens at Oxon Hill Manor to take in the blossoms and sunshine. Moving along the meticulously groomed paths will weave you past rose bushes, a large brick patio, and expansive views.
- Celebrate Earth Day with a screening of The Biggest Little Farm at the Harmony Hall Arts Center on April 13. Watch the film about a couple who attempt to turn 200 acres of land outside Los Angeles into a sustainable farm, listen to special guests speak about growing your own food, and leave with seeds to plant at home.
- Pack a picnic to enjoy at the University Hills Duck Pond Park in Hyattsville. The park is home to a large playground for the kids to use, a walking and biking path along the water, and a picnic pavilion for rent.
- Hike the short and easy Pumpkin Ash Trail in Piscataway Park. You’ll follow the Potomac River from the visitor center to the Ecosystem Farm, moving through forests and tidal wetlands. Don’t miss the views of Mount Vernon as you stroll.
- Attend the Annual Montpelier Festival of Herbs, Tea, and the Arts at the Montpelier House Museum on April 27. This family-friendly festival will have vendors, live music, gardening talks, and museum tours. You can also enjoy a Picnic Tea Box with finger sandwiches, pastries, and a scone if you order ahead.
